It's difficult to keep myself from salivating when I look at that! What a majestic plant! It must be pretty old.

On a sidenote, I've recently fallen in love with anacampseros but am having difficulty finding good literature about them. I'm still not even sure how to distinguish a rufescens from a telephiastrum. Do you have any advice on reading material? Sorry to sort of hijack your thread!

Thank you everyone!

Sarah, rufescens is a syn. of telephiastrum so they are one in the same. No books I know, all info has been retrieved online.

Very cool looking Caudex, thanks for posting. I have a small one, of course it doesn't look anything as amazing as yours. It doesn't even look like the same plant,lol...

I like that staging a lot. And, a very excellent pot - what are its dimensions?

...not to mention that when I google this plant, none of them look as gnarly as yours...

This plant is very old, I've had at least 10yrs and the guy I got from had it 15-20yrs. It has seen hard times, I forgot I had till a week ago (one of the problems of having so many plants). Those few days of warmth I was out cleaning up and found it totally grown over with weeds. Can't remember the lat time I intentionally watered it.

Pot has a 5.5" diameter x 1.25" deep

Gordon Rowley has published, 1995. Anacampseros, Avonia, Grahamia-A Grower's Handbook. Hull Rd (GB). British Cactus and Succulent Society. 80 pp. I didn't think that A. telephiastrum and A. rufescens were synonyms, but perhaps you have a citation for that (they are reported to have different chromosome numbers, among other features). Rowley has keys, illustrations, but there have been misgivings about his treatment of the genus Anacampseros.

Thanks for the great photo-plant-pot! Yale

This pot is one of my favorites yet.
I'm partial to the crackly textures and "broken" lips.
I like how the color of the pot matches the color of the roots.

I keep planting them and either they die in pots or they do okay in ground-then they disappear, slugs? or?. So,I dont know how youve avoided the rot problem..not easy to grow.
