Spider or cat?

Hi Folks,

I live over at the Florida forum and posted this message there. I'm in Zone 10 Florida, any idea what this is? Cat or spider?

I don't know the answer to your question, Tom, but I'll guess that it's a spider, since I've never seen a cocoon that looks like that. Still, it could be some sort of moth cocoon that occurs in south Florida that I wouldn't have seen.
You could put it in a ventilated cage of some sort and see what emerges!

Thanks, that's what I'll do. We do have lots of spinybacked orbweaver spiders here in central Florida so I'll bet that is what it is, but only time will tell.
