'Tangerine Beauty' Crossvine - Bignonia capreolata

I just have to share this photo with you. I think this is the best bloom season to date. Boy, if you need a fast growing vine, this one will fill the bill. I think I'm going to take it out this year as it's a constant battle to keep it pruned. My garden space is so small, I have to tippy toe around other plants in order to constantly prune this vine.

I also have a climbing Hydrangea that I'm watching for first buds. I've had it 4 years and it has yet to bloom.

I really thought the crossvine would attract hummingbirds but I don't notice much activity from the hummers. Lots of wild bees visit the blooms so at least it's helping provide nectar for those little guys. Too early for butterflies so don't know if they would feed from the blooms.

That is a gorgeous, heavy blooming vine, Mary! Are you sure you want to remove it? I've always heard that when crossbones blooms, the hummers arrive.

I would definitely keep that, for the hummers alone.

I think the hummingbirds will use it eventually, Mary. It's gorgeous, so, if it were me, I'd sure keep it!
