Billbergia viridiflora

For anyone from Australia, does the species Billbergia viridiflora exist in Australia? I can't find any trace of it.

Thanks

Hi Dashgogo,

I don't know if it is available in Australia. I haven't seen it here, and I've been collecting for quite a few years now. If I had seen it, I would have one (or two!), as I love species broms, and have long-admired that one's long, hanging inflorescence. If it has reached our fair shore, it is certainly not commonly available.

News Flash! - I just looked it up on the FCBS photo index, and see it has been photographed by Unc Derek and Peter Franklin - both Aussies. Peter Franklin lives closer to you, in the Newcastle area. He can be contacted through the Hunter Bromeliad Society.

Good luck in your quest.

Cheers,
Kerry
