When I am photographing a bromiliad for identification what are the most important aspects that should be visible in the photo?
The bloom, top of the leaves and underside of the leaves
It depends on how accurate you want ids to be and how technical you want to be, especially with species. Angled top and side view/s of whole plant, closeups of floral material (inflorescence, branch, floral bracts, flowers and pulled to bits if necessary) and habitat info if in the wild or collected. Measurements of all are important too (use a cm/mm ruler).
Thank you for those tips. I will try to follow them (so long as I don´t have to climb the trees they live in).
