Fouquieria

cedarstickApril 20, 2010

I've been trying to identify what I think is a Fouquieria. I found it on the edge of the Colorado River in Matagorda, TX where the river spills into the Gulf of Mexico. It was in Dec. 2 yrs. ago so the leaves were little nubs like succulent leaves on twigs. Last summer I moved it to a new rock garden I made. It divided into 2 plants & they really took off. The branches spread out like spider legs across the gravel. I'd like to know what fouquieria it is.

I believe you identified this (on another forum here) as Lycium carolinianum var. quadrifidum. (in case anyone came by wanting to know) :)
