What is this. Im having no luck finding it on the web. It was on the swamp milkweed.
The picture is so blurry, I can't really see what the caterpillar looks like, but from the extreme hairiness, it's definitely a moth, not a butterfly. If that's red I'm seeing on the lower part of the cat, it's probably a white spotted tussock moth. If it's yellow or cream all over, it could be a salt marsh moth caterpillar or a spotted apatelodes. I don't think it's a milkweed tussock moth, because the hair isn't shaped like theirs is.
There are no 'foes' in the caterpillar world, except those that come in huge outbreaks and strip entire forests of their leaves at once. This caterpillar is definitely not in that category.
Thanks for the reply. I couldnt get a better picture because it kept moving and the tablet is sucky at taking pictures! It did not have red on it. that was part of a flower petal that fell (i think) . It did have a black face if that helps.
He was on a kinda destroyed leaf. After I watered all the plants i left him alone.
Was its face black like this salt marsh moth caterpillar?
It did have that face! And that caterpillar is cute.
