Zebra Swallowtail Cat Progression

bandjzmom(7 NWGeorgia)June 12, 2013

Ok, I found and brough the cats in on the 8th. So, today is day 4 having them. So far, so good. (as she holds her breath) Here are some pics of the progression in the past 4 days. I had 2 really dark cats and 2 really light cats. I labled my containers so that I could see how they changed. So, the words dark and light here apply to how they looked when I first put them into the containers. I also included a quarter for size comparison. Enjoy! :o)

They sure were active this morning. Well, except for #1.

I guess #3 still looks darker in comparison to the others.

But then, check out #1 Dark. This one was as dark as #3 when I first found it. Interesting.

Can I ask about the leaves you are feeding them? What are they? Around here the Zebra Swallowtails only seem to use Paw paws.

Thanks guys! It is just so exciting to have them. I find myself checking on them constantly. Cat #1 was very still for the above photo op and has now completed a molt. Cats #2, 3, and 4 are very still and not eating right now. I am assuming they are preparing to molt also. New pics coming once they have all molted. Hopefully, I won't bore y'all to death with zillions of Zebra pics. :o)
Tom, those leaves are Pawpaw leaves. It is the only host plant of the Zebra Swallowtail.
