I've had a lot of very tiny butterflies in the backyard. If they're a half inch wingspan that's a lot. Anyone know what they could be?
A half inch wingspan is very small, so I'm wondering if these are tiny moths?
There are many small butterflies, so I couldn't hazzard a guess without a picture or at least a description.
(You're not referring to the dandelion butterfly of the other posting, right?)
Certain pyralid moths, partial to mint but will visit a variety of blossoms, are tiny and fly about during the day.
Do yours have a dainty, fluttering flight or do they dart around?
Some of the Gossamer-wing Butterflies on the list below are pretty tiny. I'm seeing lots of blue Azures right now that will gather where it's muddy after I water. The decription says their wingspan can be over an inch but I'm going to measure one. They don't look that big to me. lol
I put in your state on the link.

I'm wondering if Kathy might be seeing some little skippers. I've been noticing them in my yard.
