Furniture for indoor tropical garden room

jenn(SoCal 9/19)August 28, 2005

We're looking for indoor patio-type furniture for the family room where I will put the tropical plants. The window and patio door look out into the backyard and outdoor patio and I'd like this room to be somewhat like an indoor patio (w/fireplace and adjoining kitchen) with plants and indoor patio-like furniture.

Today we saw a set we really like at Expo. We can select the Sunbrella fabric of our choice for the cushions. The loveseat, chairs, and table are wicker and are very comfortable -- even Hubby who doesn't like wicker really liked them.

However.... we'd like to find something just like them for a lower price. Does anyone know of a store that sells this type of furniture, good quality, at an affordable price? We can afford the price at Expo but would like to pay less if possible. Is there an outlet store somewhere?

Jen: Just watch out for quality when you get into "cheaper". Wicker can look really nice.... for awhile.... then the quality tells.

Thanks Westelle, that's my belief too. I strongly believe that, in most cases, you get what you pay for. If we were buying furniture for our first home with small children, or for a dorm, I'd be willing to settle for lesser quality. But we plan to keep this furniture "til death do us part", and it will get a lot of use. :-)

Are you saying that wicker can last a long while if it is good quality?

We found a set yesterday at Outdoor Elegance in La Verne. Nice quality, extremely comfortable cushions (the best we tried anywhere), great fabric and styling. The hunt is over!
