Sulphur Caterpillars

misssherry(Z8/9SE MS)June 3, 2011

I brought in a lot of sulphur cats to raise myself, mostly cloudless sulphurs, off both Christmas cassias. I noticed that one has a black spot on it, just like the cats that were parasitized earlier in the year - fortuinately, it's just one.

It's too bad that sulphurs are being parasatized by what appears to be the same wasp that uses red admirals - the little bitty white cocoons on the dead cat look just the same. I'm keeping this one just in case it's something other than a parasite, but when the coccoon shows up, I'll cut it in half with scissors.
