Mamm Candida

cactuspolecat(Tasmania Aust)October 19, 2005

As promised to Alfonso, here is my Mamm. candida, this is the pink spined form formerly known as Mamm. ortiz-rubiona, it's approx. 20 years old. I killed my white spined one years ago. :(

I love the dense spination on this plant... It's been a slow grower, but it's quite happy, I expect some buds to start forming soon. Will post another pic when it flowers.

Pink snowball!

Your's is a slow grower? M. candida is the largest of all the seeds I sowed this year, nearly two inches across. Maybe it slows down when it gets really covered in spines.

Beautiful CP. I love the heavily spined mamms.

Thank you CP, a very nice one.
It seems like they are almost spine covered with age.

That baby is twenty years old? On what planet? It must be starved for attention. Thanks for showing off your other flowering MAmm's. Nothing like a desert miles away from a desert. My oasis is getting larger by the year and I think I'm just going to have to give away any duplicates. Some of my Mamm's started to bloom just before I brought them inside and will pop open on sunny days. I can't figure if they usually bloom in Fall or Spring or both as happens some times.
