carolina cherry laurel disease - Help identify?

rameterJanuary 5, 2009

I have about a dozen cherry laurels with the same problem. The local nursury said basically to do nothing, but I need to know what the problem is! Take a look at the pics...any help would be appreciated!

Those certainly are colorful photos!
When did the problem start?
What did the problem look like at first?
How old are the cherry laurels?
What kind of sun exposure did they get in summer?
Is the discoloration all over the plant uniformly? Or is one side of the plant worse?

I believe that is "Shot-hole" disease, a leaf spot type of disease. Here is some information on it (see link). You could spray with Cleary's or Daconil if you felt you had to "do something" but probably not necessary.
