Magnolias in bloom

Nice history of magnolias and some photos of Golden Gate Park's Botanical Gardens magnolias, in our San Francisco Chronicle paper. Here in the East Bay some of the older magnolias have been blooming for almost a month now.

Ooooh. I love the saucer magnolias. There's an unbelievably beautiful one at the Descanso Gardens entrance, as I recall.

I have one Magnolia - a Jane Magnolia.

I want another one and would like to have one of those big Southern Mags in my back yard too. On hot summer days I'll sit and sip Mint Juleps and breathe in her sweet fragrance. In the winter, I'll have flower cones and beautiful leaves for making Christmas decorations.

Ah...sweet Magnolias.

jkom51,. you are lucky indeed to be able to enjoy a sight like that!

Thanks for sharing.
