I.D, and confirmation please!

newbhoy(Scotland)December 27, 2005

I have two pics here, the first I want identified because I really do want one for myself, the second, i.e the plant in the centre of the pic, I think could be a Ferocactus herrerae, though I have my doubts?? Any help will be much appreciated,

Many thanks

Scott

Scott,

The first depicts an Echinocactus ingens or grandis or visnaga or palmeri or platyacanthus. They are VERY similar and most 'experts' lump them to Ecac. platyacanthus.
They'll become big (up to 6 ft. tall and 2 ft. in ø) plants eventually, i.e. within 100-300 years!
