Finally! A plant that LOVES it here.

hostarasta(z9)February 23, 2014

It is a very beautiful day in Hercules; I doubt anyone is inside when they could be out. I'm working on centerpieces for my good friend's 60th birthday party. I took a break and looked around outside. Can someone please give me the scientific name of this succulent? I love the blue leaves. It is getting a bit out of control and I want to divide it. Should I place in water to root? Or just cut it and put it in the dirt? Or what? I could look this up myself but I like hearing from others.

Is it in the ice plant family?

Thanks! Marlene

Oh, I have that one too. I think it's called "Fingers." I planted it on my dry, rocky bank and it actually likes it there and our frosty nights didn't discourage it either. I planted yellow Gazania in with it, which looks pretty with the blue. I have broken off pieces, let them heal for a couple days, then just stick in dirt and water a bit until they take hold.

Thanks nil13! Your picture looks great. We're renting so I don't want to spend much in new perennials. So why not divide these babies up! Thanks again. I'm attaching a photo I took last year - the property is on our corner.
