pomegranate alive?

jgchow(z9 CA)February 11, 2012

We transplanted a neglected small eversweet pomegranate tree a couple of months ago to a new location with more sun. It has not yet showed signs of life -- no sign of buds or leaves yet. When do pomegranates start budding out in Santa Clara County?

Mine are still dormant here, have faith, yours should be OK. Al

Mine are leafing out now, but I'm MUCH warmer and milder than where you are. It's pretty hard to kill a pomegranate in California :-) Be patient, start watering and as soon as you see some leafing out, apply a light application of citrus fertilizer. My neighbor cut his pom down to the ground in hopes to stimulate it back to life last year, plus put it on a drip. It is now 10' tall. I am not joking, we were both astounded.

You are all right!! I was excited to see slight signs of life this weekend. There are very tiny green buds starting to show. Thanks everyone!
