Spring photos anyone?

daisyincrete Z10? 905feet/275 metresFebruary 13, 2013

I have just been looking through old threads from last year.
I have been admiring the photos from Renee's (hosenemesis) garden and I am wondering, is it too early for some spring photos? Is anything starting to flower in California yet?
Here in the Mediterranean Sea, the wild anemones and narcissus, are blooming along the roadsides and in the olive groves.
The almond trees are blossoming all over this island.
The pink forms look gorgeous against the blue sea and the silvery olives.
In my garden, the crocus are in flower and some of the earlier narcissus. The new, young Hardenbergia violacea is flowering and some of the roses, agyranthemums and pelargoniums haven't stopped all winter.
What is blooming now in California?
Do show.

Wow! I have just seen wcgypsy's photos. Lovely.
Those salvias are early.
I have a few salvias in my garden, but none of them are showing flowers yet.

Rosemary is blooming like it never has before. There is also some mountain marigold and hot lips salvia.

Here's a picture of part of my front yard, taken at 5:30 PM, when the light was too dim to keep the ice plant flowers open, but you can still see them. The yellow flowers are on an aeonium arboreum, which are common in my neighborhood and generally bloom in January and February. The picture also shows Japanese Iris, which are pretty much a weed and have to be pulled out constantly, although we let them grow wild on one side of the house. The aloes are also blooming or starting to bloom, as well as quite a few other succulents. In the back yard I have cymbidiums and epidendrums blooming, as well as a couple of bromeliads.

Thank-you, great photos.
It is fascinating to see what is flowering in California now.

lgteacher, I love rosemary, I just wish it flowered for a little longer.
I have never heard of mountain marigold before. I googled it to find out what it is. Tagetes lemmonii. I grow the annual tagetes but I didn't know there was a shrub tagetes. Lovely.

Tinan, Your lavender, looks a good rich colour, and is that Layia platyglossa beside them?

publickman, my Aeonium arboreum haven't flowered yet.
They are well grown, just shy flowering for some reason.
I am fascinated by your Japanese iris. Is it a white form of Moraea from Africa?
I have a blue, late summer/autumn flowering form, called Moraea polystachya and an orange, spring flowering form called Moraea flaccida aurantiaca.
I got them both from a bulb specialist in France.
