Can you help me identify my friend's camellia?

I am not good at identifying camellias but it reminds me of October Affair, a Camellia Japonica.

Only when I was looking at camellia pictures at the American Camellia Society's Website. Those two camellia blooms are very similar. Reminds me when I was looking at the pictures. By the time I got to camellias whose name starts with a G, I was swearing I had already seen this or that one before.

It would be nice if there was a source that included more than just one picture of the blooms as well as the shrub. One might notice differences more clearly that way.

Yes: With C. japonica cultivars flowers of same kind may vary quite a bit right on the same bush, as well as on different planting sites.

And there have been thousands of kinds named, some of them closely similar.
