Fig Trees in Pots - Underplanting Suggestions
Okay you wonderful California folks. I am going to plant two fig varieties (Violette de Bordeaux and Peter's Honey) into two large pots on my patio. I'm re-homing the rose trees that are currently in these pots, as I don't water them enough, so they're going in the yard and on drips before I kill them :-) So, I'd like a little color in these pots as an underplanting. Any suggestions as to a nice flowering plant to plant under the fig trees that can stand not being watered ALL the time? Something the blooms frequently. These pots get full morning sun until about 2:00 pm, so they'd have to take a lot of sun. I was thinking geraniums, but that seems kind of boring. But, rather Italian, and with the figs, and our tuscan-styled home and yard, would be nice. I just can't come up with a good choice.
