Camellia sinensis, tea question

wlvesrck(7a)September 12, 2006

I am going to get a few of these tea plants, just to experiment. I am a newly discovered Black/Oolong tea fan. My question is, how do you make black and oolong tea? I know that it has to be fermented and heated or something, but i dont know what it meen when it says to ferment, the only fermenting i have ever done is when i made root beer, but i am pretty sure it is different, lol. Can anyone help me out here?

Sincerely,

Ryan Harris

I have planted some camellia sinensis too for the same reason. I also have found that they are nice landscape plants -- quick growing with fragrant white blooms. For tea making instructions, here is a link to an excellent website (Gene's Nursery in Savannah) -- click on "Tea" and you will find instructions on how to make the various teas from camellia sinensis leaves. Have fun!
