Battered Gulf Fritillary

davesselsJuly 4, 2014

This butterfly visited my garden yesterday. It looks quite battered, it nectared on my red verbena, nepeta and marigolds. This is a first for me, so I can add this to record to make sure I have host plants and nectar plants for it next year. We are the only county listed in the Panhandle for this butterfly, maybe because we used to have a lake before the drought. I was just delighted to find it in my garden.
