Hi, I am looking for something that will grow in dry low sun soil that is against the front of my house. House faces east with shade from tree. I would love to have some type of bush.
Diervilla lonicera or bush honeysuckle, is a native shrub which will take low light and dry soil. It grows to about 4'.
Here's a website for a large list of dry shade plants.
I have just planted part shade/full shade plants at the front of my house:
-Ivory Halo Dogwood (Variegated)
-Diablo Ninebark (dark purple)
-Weigela (wine?) (dark green/purpl(ey))
-Japanese cone yew (Evergreen)
-Boxwood (little gem) (Evergreen)
try one of the gold lieafed spireas.
I grew the native diervilla lonicera in dry clay and part sun. Beware that it is a suckering shrub that spreads underground.
