What would you do in this space?

LizMay 2, 2013

I have a new home and am starting to plant the front planters between the house and walkway/driveway. What I was thinking of doing was either a dwarf weeping blue spruce or weeping larch as a feature piece. Planting a couple conifer shrubs, mix in some hydrangeas and something deep purple. I may need something more. I have day lilies to transplant but I was told not to put them in with the conifers so I damage roots when dividing. I am going to put them in another area now. If this was your space what would you do? I am open to suggestions.

The area is: The house wall is 9ft + 11ft and the depth is 5ft 10inches along the stairs and 8ft 9inches on the longest part. The veranda wall is 3ft.
