Red King Humbert - In the pond?

gypsysunriseMarch 21, 2009

I have heard of people planting Cannas in their pond, or in the boggy area near the pond. Can the Red King Humbert Canna be planted directly in the water?

I have planted nearly every variety I have in water. They have all loved it! Go for it.

Same thing with elephant ears.

Hey Joe!.. lol

Yes, I agree. When the water temps are decently warm, cannas with thrive just fine without even being potted. You will have to watch the no pots don't tip though as the ones like King Humbert will get quite big and also top heavy.

Thank you both for the replies!
How warm should the temps be before I should consider planting in water?

I have the real King Humbert from a really old home and it seems to do fair in water. Other varieties do better in a pond. King Humbert and Banana Canna get really big and tall.
