Wow, that's different, Richard! I would guess it's a crested cactus, but doesn't quite look like any I've seen. I would also guess it's a Mammillaria, but can't be sure about that. I see it has hooked spines & a yellow bloom, but nothing is jumping out at me as a characteristic I could use to nail down an ID for you. Sorry!

Could you possibly snap a pic a little closer of just a part of the plant, please? Maybe a shot from the top too?

Thanks, Richard! Doesn't look like a crest, but many individual plants. I dug around some, but couldn't come up with a match to the hooked central spines. Still, I believe it is a Mammillaria.
