Zebra (Haworthia fasciata) Unexpected baby!

janet-g(9)May 18, 2012

My Zebra has had babies before, by growing little ones around its base. Now it has surprised me by sending out a flower shoot and developing a baby halfway down it! I am at a loss as to what to do now. The baby doesn't appear to have any roots. Can someone enlighten me?

Pretty cool! Yeah, that happens. I have the same thing happening on a different Haworthia. I've been letting mine develop before I pop it off. You can cut the rest of the stem off and let it keep growing for a while, best to let it get to a nice size first since it will grow much faster connected. You shouldn't have any trouble rooting it.
