What is the name of this flower

kittymoonbeamMay 4, 2013

I was trying to remember the name of a flower that I see in late spring/summer. It usually is sold in a 4"-6" pot and has soft upright grey green foliage with slender leaves. The flowers are shaped like long california poppies which are twisted as a bud and can be very double in shades of pink white and blue-purple. I see this used in pots or for beds. Exactly! Thank you. I wonder why it's not in my Western Garden Book. Maybe I need a newer copy.

We tend to think that the Western Garden Book has everything, but sadly they can't cover everything and current copies will cover what's currently of interest and plants that were in the last edition, or before, will maybe not be listed. I hang onto old copies for that very reason....What I do like in the new issue is that there is quite a bit of coverage given to a number of salvias that are currently popular.

It's in the SWGB uner the name "Eustoma grandiflorum".
Like several other plants it got "re-named" at some point in time.
