Is this a Manzanita?

SFGuyMay 7, 2012

There is this big tree/bush growing behind my yard. Does this look like a Manzanita?

Then, maybe twenty-feet from this tree, in one of my planter beds, I have this small plant springing up. Might this be one of its offspring? The leaves look the same to me.

I don't know what that plant is, but a manzanita's flowers are really distinctive. They're pale pink, urn-shaped and hang down (and are very sweet and tasty). So they look kinda balloony with a little opening at the bottom. They're maybe a half centimeter long.

Here is a link that might be useful:

Doesn't look like manzanita to me. Manzanitas have the most gorgeous dark chocolate trunks and stems.
