Any idea what this bug is??

MarinaSBMay 31, 2013

I found this in the soil of my potted azalea today. It's about 3/4 of an inch long. The half of the bug that looks like it has a stinger on it is the only half that moves. The other half is smooth almost cocoon like. I think I saw eyes on that cocoon side but can't be sure. Any ideas??

It bears an amazing resemblance to some silkworms that I ate once.

That's because they're both pupal cases of moths.

How did they taste? Were they creamy and sweet?

Nah. They tasted like meat with a unique flavor. I bought them frozen. Insects are probably better when fresh.
