Scabiosa

From what I've been reading here, sounds like you all grow Scabiosa quite a lot, so I hope you can answer this question for me. As I dead head my scabiosa, I notice that some of the flower stems have what looks like a small plantlet growing out of the side of the stem. Can I start a new plant from this? Can I just cut it off and stick it in some dirt to take root?
