What a find! Hypercompe scribonia

NaturesFolly(West MI 5)September 13, 2012

I found the cat of the Giant Leopard moth which is a beautiful moth! Put it in a container and am researching the species now. This thing is huge! This is the first time I have ever seen one of these here in MI.

Here is a link that might be useful: Giant Leopard Moth

I've found more of the cats than the moths. Both are awesome but the nod goes to the moth because of the blue on the wings, IMO.

I've always found the cats in the fall. I let them go since I don't feel confident that I could overwinter them properly. YMMV
