Sowing Nasturtiums

I'm relatively new to North Carolina, Raleigh area. When exactly does everyone sow their nasturtiums?

I guess you could sow them now, but I usually wait until mid March. I soak them and treat them like peas (garden peas and sweet peas).

They hate to be transplanted so you don't want to be moving them around a lot.

You can sow them in late summer for fall blooms also but the spring/early summer blooms are the best.

Mine were winter sowed in pots in early January. Sometimes nasturtiums can be slow to germinate due to their seed coats. Soaking them in water or nicking them first and soaking usually does the trick. Winter sowing does the same since the alternating freeze thaw cycles help break the seed coat down.

Good stuff. I'll wait a month.
