Winter weather

zone8_gardener(zone 8)February 16, 2013

The winters do seem to be warmer the last couple of years.Today was the second time I had to bring plants inside because of the cold.Twenty years ago it was cold all winter, maybe there is something to global warming.I like warm, but I do need some cold for the hostas !

Trouble is it just doesn't seem to be cold long enough to really help plants that need a winter dormancy. Not with 25 degrees one day or two and then 65 degrees for days in a row. Certainly not cold enough and for long enough to kill off the bad buggies.

Several weeks ago, I noticed a bloom on my nectarine and there was still a leaf from last year hanging on. Talk about confused! I wonder if I'll get any fruit this year.
