Does anyone know if Passiflora 'Victoria' will attract and feed Fritillary caterpillars? I heard some Passifloras may be poisonous to caterpillars. I hope not this one. It is a cross between, P. racemosa x P. caerulea. thx
I've never grown 'Victoria' but since one of its parents is P. caerulea, it will most likely be a passionvine that gulf fritillaries will lay their eggs on. I've got a 'Lavender Lady' or 'Amethyst' which is an old hybrid with one parent being P. caerulea (P. caerulea and P. incarnata are the most commonly used passionvines in hybridization, due to their cold hardiness) and the gulf frits use mine, but not until the P. incarnata is gone or nearly so.
'Victoria' sounds like an interesting hybrid, since one of the parents is P. racemosa, quite a beautiful passi - I may try it next year.
