My Brother in law gave me some flowers that he says are Hybiscus but the plants look like Rose of Sharon. Now I am wondering. Opinions please. First my Rose of Sharon for comparison.

Now the ones that he says are Hybiscus. Keep in mind that they have exactly the same leaves.

And now some of my real Hybiscus.

The hand I can identify. :=)

They are what we call hardy hibiscus, a herbaceous perennial that dies back to the ground after frost and emerges late next spring, often not until June for me. Notice the difference in the foliage.

ROS is another hibiscus species. The hybrid HH are crosses of various species.

These are two that I winter sowed several years ago. My others have buds but haven't opened yet.

All I know is they are beautiful Bill and my daughter tells me to tell you she is jealous of your flower garden and wants those beautiful flowers. LoL She sat here with me tonight looking at them. :)

I don't grow any ROS, but just wanted to say those are some beauties Bill, especially that pink with white bloom!
