I've recently added a nepenthes alata to the greenhouse. We had a party in the backyard a few weeks back, and though our yard is clean, there's student housing (rentals)in the vicinity. Since college students aren't the best stewards of their yards - or their trash cans - a lot of flies attended as well....

Now I hung out several fly traps (the plastic, store-bought kind) ahead of time along with the new nepenthes. It had a feast...it ate really, really well.

Can these things overeat and what happens if they do?

Don't worry about it at all. Let nature handle it.

They grow and grow and grow, if they get the light and water they need as well.

People overeat; plants generally do not.
