White Clematis for May/June bloom

rosefollyFebruary 5, 2012

Hi -- I'm looking for a white clematis that will bloom late May to early June in the SF Bay area of California. This is for a garden that is being designed for a wedding in 2013, so color and timing are both important.

Thanks!

Huldine, Marie Boisselot and Duchess of Edinburgh are blooming for me during that period in Petaluma. Huldine would probably be the most reliable.

This picture of Huldine, Ernest Markham and Florida Sieboldi was made on May, 29, 2009.

To follow up -- today I placed an order for three white clematis varieties, 'Huldane' and "Duchess of Edinburgh' as suggested, and also 'Miss Bateman'. I admired those red stamens, very striking. I even have places identified where all three will go, something of a miracle in an established garden.

Bob, those three look great together. Do you have any other combos you can share?

Thanks,

Maria

This is Niobe, Marie Boisselot and The President. The President is darker than it looks in the picture, more like the top right bloom in the picture but a little darker than that.

Pretty...your Niobe seems to be pretty tall. I have one that has only grown about 4 ft. and another about 6ft.

Those are on an 8 ft. high fence. Niobe grows to within a foot of the top while the others grow over the top.
