Clematis up and a Frost is Threatened

organic_kitten(8)March 10, 2011

I have clematis up and budded all over my yard, and a frost is threatened. I covered them all with towels to k3ep frost off. It is supposed to be only a night time thing, and warm up again in the AM. Do you think they will be okay?

Unless it freezes pretty hard it won't bother them. Even if it should I would think they would come back and just be a little later.

They did fine. We had just a light frost, and no damage. Thank you bob414,

Clematis are remarkably frost tolerant. All of mine have been budding up vigorously for the last month or so and we had a cold snap a couple weeks ago with nighttime temps dipping into the low 20's-high teens. No issues with the clems at all, even the armandii that is full of flower buds.

Thank you, gardengal48,
I have buds on most of them, but they weren't hurt at all that I can see. I am really looking forward to the blooming this year.
