Key Lime Blossoms dropping

Valdo(9b)March 24, 2011

I have had a key lime for about 8 years in a pot, bore 1 fruit in its history, only blossoms. I planted it two years ago and it has thrived (with a total freeze last year it came back with a vengeance).

This spring it has alot of blossoms, but I notice that the stem connected the blossom to the branch is very very thin, thus many of them just fall, if not all.

Thus, Blossoms fall off before bud can even remotely turn to fruit- advice???

It's normal for citrus to drop the majority of its buds.

That said, at this point, I'd be more interested in the tree having a well established root system.

I confess when we transplanted it, the roots were quite swirled about the pot. Though I did spread them out a bit and the tree seems incredibly, unbelievably healthy.
