OT - Empty nest again

rosebush(z7 NC)June 23, 2008

Well, "my" three little wrens all left the nest this weekend. After watching the parents come to feed them each day on my patio, it was kind of sad, but very cool to see them fly. . .Had a "grandma" moment - made me think of my three girls, all grown and on their own too. :)

Yes, my bluebirds have fledged also, the 2nd batch this year. Dont give up, there may be more on the way soon. Your bird family will not leave the area while training its babies how to eat on their own, so look around and maybe you will watch see them in action. Great photo!

I've got a nest of Brown Thrashers about to fledge. This is the second year for her and her brood. She is so brave, I'm only allowed so much time near the chicks. She built the nest in between some potted plants clustered on a table in my little plant storage area.

TJ- i saw her when i was wandering around and was amazed at her tameness! That explains why she was 2' from me. I bet i was almost on top of her nest!
