Citrus flowering but whitefly outbreak

tmc2009April 9, 2013

I guess this can be a problem in greenhouses as I'm quickly learning. It's starting to get pretty warm in the greenhouse with the warming temperatures outside and some nice clear sky days. I brought them outside for a quick spray with the hose as a short term solution to knock the numbers down a little bit. I might try some neem oil next.

Hey newengland

im battling them as well in my greenhouse. Not so much on the citrus but on this years vegetable seedlings. Neem oil every couple of days is doing a decent job. The key is to do successive treatments as the eggs hatch. Dont forget to do the underside of the leaves.

I also make my own yellow sticky traps out of bright yellow posted board and sticky gel. The gel I get at a local Ag store that is specific for trapping flies and gnats. White flies are attracted to the yellow

I think you can use plain old KY jelly as the sticky part also.
