Fungicide questions

butterclem(z6 W.PA)May 30, 2009

Hi,

I've searched the forum and found all the fungicide links, I think. But I still have two questions. I'm using the Schultz product and I'm being proactive with Duchess of Albany since she got mildew at the end of the summer last year. My first question is: how often do I apply this? Weekly, biweekly? And when do I stop?

Also I've added some small species clematises this year. I know viorna is mildew prone, but am not sure about the others. How about heracleifolia, albicoma and ochroleuca? I assume I shouldn't treat them with a fungicide this year since they were just planted, but I'd like to know which are suspect so I can get right on them next year.

Many thanks.

The frequency of application should be on the label, some are formulated to apply more often than others.

But it isn't on the label! I looked for it carefully. I'm using Garden Safe Fungicide 3. There's a lot of Spanish to clear out of your line of vision and it's one of those labels that peel off from the bottle, which I hate, but I'm really sure the issue of frequency is not addressed. At least not on my bottle!

Thanks for the link, Carol23. In the absence of word from the manufacturer on the label or elsewhere, I'm happy to get the epinions reviewer's directions. And 7-14 days sounds reasonable. Thanks so much.

Heracleifolia, ochroleuca and albicoma are not in the Viornae group (which tend to suffer from mildew easily) and have never had a fungal problem for me.

Mike, thanks for the info on these species. I'm glad to hear they're not mildew prone, though we're getting so much rain this summer everything may get mildew, prone or not.
