Planting to have them grow together - how close?

njmomma(z6 NJ)May 7, 2010

If I want them to grow together how close should I plant them?

I would like to see them together only after the first 3 feet. I'd prefer to see them individually and then gradually grow together on 2 separate trellises.

I'm thinking of leaving 18" between them when planting to achieve this goal. Is that too close? Too far apart?

They are all type II - Dr. Ruppel, Miss Bateman, Bees Jubilee, Ramona, Elsa Spath, Guernsey Cream, Niobe.

Thanks!

Natanya

Are you putting two separate Trellis side by side?..What is the width of the area you are planting these?..Not understanding exactly what you mean but I plant mine 8-12inches apart...Jeanne

I have two IIs on a two foot wide trellis/net/arbor (multiple locations).
