Can you ever kill a crepe myrtle?

mclemNovember 28, 2012

Two years ago I cut down a crepe myrtle that was growing in a wrong spot. I dug out a lot of the root ball 1 1/2 years ago but I'm still getting sprouts from this plant. I've used a combo of digging out and spraying with Roundup the new shoots but it doesn't seem to go away. I want to plant other things in this area but I want all remnants of the crepe myrtle gone before planting other items.

You hae to dig down real deep to see where the root ball still is. There was a piece you left in by mistake.
Then burn it. Put some leaves in that hole that you dug out when you find it, and light it up.
Just keep hose handy.
That is the only way I know to get rid of it.
When it is black, and it burns out, leave it alone til
spring, see if you see any green coming up, you won't.
