Redcurrant berries on clematis

tigermothJuly 2, 2012

i have recently noticed a clematis that i thought had died and was planted next to a redcurrant bush is now growing again and has small red berries similar to the redcurrants on the trailing creepers. Has anyone else ever seen this before ?

A picture would help. There is absolutely no way a Clematis and a redcurrant can cross so something else is the explanation. Are you sure there are no currant twigs tangled in the vine? And are you sure no other vine eg Solanum dulcamara, a common weed, is growing there which you are mistaking for the Clematis?

Here is a link that might be useful: Solanum dulcamara
