Will it come back?

greems(5b)July 3, 2012

We recently had to have part of our yard dug up because of a broken water main and sadly that required having to dig up my Allanah Clematis. It was put in a conntainer but left attached to the netting it was climbing on. It was probably out of the ground about 3 1/2 to 4 hours and then replanted and well watered but is now turning brown. Is there a chance it will recover? Should I perhaps prune it back again. I did prune it back hard in the early spring and it came back well. It is only the second year I have had it and it bloomed the first year and did have some blooms early in Spring before it was dug up. I would really hate to lose it so any suggestions on how to go about recovering it would be much appreciated.

Pat

Pat, there is a great chance your Clematis will be fine. Cut it back again. There is still plenty of time this year - it might even bloom again for you.
Do not worry, Clematis are tough :)
