Weekend Trivia - Sunday

Speaking of toys, can you name the toy that was introduced by John Lloyd Wright (son of Frank) in 1916? It was an immediate hit and is still popular today.

My brain is full of fog. lol. I know that he was an architect, like his Dad, but not quite as talented. Hmmmmm...another building set, TM?

Well, again, an idea flew into my head immediately, but it is probably wrong as usual. I will be back later.

Okay, Nancy and I are probably thinking along the same lines. These were actually one of my favorite things to play with on rainy days. When I grew up, I actually was lucky enough to live in a real one for several years. You can still buy them, although some sets may be plastic nowadays. :(

Architect and building, hmm. I made many buildings with these when I was young. A favorite activity when visiting my grandparents.

Hello all! TM, you stumped me with the Leggos tower yesterday. Today I can come up with two answers, but I don't know which is the correct answer. I'll have to log back on after the players have done some more tinkering with this question! :-)

The fog is starting to lift :) I think I've picked up a clue or two from some of these replies. Cyn lived in one, got building set from Nancy, log from Lorna... these all make me think log cabin sooooo, is it a building set used to build log cabins?

Well, I sure didn't live in a tinkertoy house-lol, although they were fun to build with! Yep, I am going with Lincoln Logs. Had no idea Wright's son made them. Neat! I certainly did love our (DH1+me) log cabin. It was built in the 1850s-we refinished the logs and woodwork which had been whitewashed. Turned out to have beautiful honey colored logs. Too bad it belonged to ex-MIL-otherwise, I might still be there! HA.

Anyway, hope Lincoln Logs is (w)right, TM. Seems to be the consensus here.

Yep, it was Lincoln Logs. Reportedly, John got inspiration for the interlocking pieces from beams in the basement of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, which his father had designed as a way of resisting earthquakes. They were called Lincoln Logs because Lincoln was his father's original middle name. Frank change Lincoln to Lloyd after his parents' divorce to honor his mother's maiden name Lloyd-Jones.

for Cynthia, Bobbie, Lorna, Annette, and Nancy(?).

Good job, my friends. Thanks for playing.

Interesting about the name change. Yes. I was thinking Lincoln Logs or Meccano. The Neo-Citron claimed me before I got back on-line. No stars for me!!

There's always next week.

Thanks for the stars, maybe you should deduct a couple:) I had a guess after putting together the hints but I would never have guessed Lincoln Logs as I've never heard of them.
