Hello, I am new to this forum,I have a question about a fern I have, the name is.'Athyrium Frizelliae'Last fall I bought this fern and just fell in love with it, I have managed to keep it alive and healthy all winter,my question is this, can I cut it apart like you would a hosta?I would like very much to get a couple of more plants from this one,Is this possiable, and at what time of the year Is the best time to do this?Thank you,Just1more

Yes, you can. If you look closely at the base, does it seem to have one than one "clump" of stems? If so, that's a natural place to divide it. Not so different from hostas, I think. But I would only do it if there seems to be a natural pair (or more) of groups.

I agree with the above recommendation. Athyrium ferns are easy to divide compared with Osmundas.
