What is this fern called?

thisblackswanApril 22, 2006

I was in Puerto Rico this past January and found an interesting fern that grew all over the island. It was small, low-lying and very sensitive; it closed to my touch. My friend Ana said roughly its local name translated to "dies and comes back" but didn't know the proper name. Does anybody know what it is called? Thanks all!

Could you be thinking of Mimosa pudica? Not really a fern, but a tropical plant sometimes grown as a houseplant. They get puffy pink flowers, and close to touch, heat or flame.
